I just wanted to share some things that I have made so far. So here it goes –
This is how I first taught myself how to knit. My mum had tried to teach me, but it wasn’t something I picked up straight away & she had me practising the knit stitch – which was a good starting point. But I wanted to learn how to cast on & off & everything else – so I watched some youtube videos & got to work!
This is the first thing I made! Its a wrist warmer, which I knitted flat & then sewed up the sides. I of course made 2, it was a very easy first project & i enjoyed making them.
Another first, the first blanket I made. This was for the birth of my niece. I enjoyed making this, though I did drop a few stitches, so it’s not without it’s mistakes! This was my first big project, it took 3 or 4 balls of wool to complete. I really enjoyed watching it all come together & grow!
One thing I really wanted to do when I first started knitting was make socks. So, this is the first sock I ever made. I didn’t make a 2nd one, I should have really as I get 2nd sock syndrome quite often (when you lose enthusiasm to make the 2nd of a pair.) But this was more of a practice knit & to prove to myself that I could knit socks.
These are the first knitting needles & the first crochet hook I bought for myself. I was really pleased with these – they are very easy to work with, lightweight & smooth.
This was my first attempt at crochet. I found this quite difficult, its only the one needle & i just wasn’t sure what to do with my hands. But I feel as though I’ve got to grips with it more now & what you see here has grown a lot!
And lastly the first part of my jumper! I knitted the back first and was pretty pleased with how it turned out. Knitted a jumper was a bit of a challenge for me. I’d never attempted something like this before & it’s a big project. It’s pretty different to a blanket too as to have to shape it around a body as opposed to the same stitch over & over again as I had done before. But I still managed to do it.
